Coven

Initiation / 1st Degree

Entrance into the Coven begins with Initiation.  This is achieved when the student has exhibited control of thier personal energies 85% of the time, completed the required studies and assignments, answered the traditional questions , and served as a member of the Grove for a member of the Grove for a minimum of a year and a day (thirteen moon cycles).  Understand that the Lady calls who She will and that the High Priestess serves the Lady so the time of initiation will vary from student to student.

Initiates have full participation in Coven rituals and meditation and may be required to serve the community as teacher and guide to the Grove.

The Initiate may be assigned a specific role in the Coven or Grove upon request and availability of the position and at the discretion of the High Priestess and her Lord.  These  roles may be Crone Priestess, Maiden Priestess, Bard, Thane, Scribe, or may have to do with special abilities they have exhibited during training; counselor, healer, seer, astrologer, organizer PR, etc.

Initiation / Second Degree

Second Degree in The Wild Blackthorn is achieved when a student who has expressed a desire for further Initiation and  has exhibited control of elemental energies 85% of the time, completed the required studies and assignments, served successfully as a Grove teacher for no less than a year and a day, and can meet the requirements concerning second degree.

Initiation / Third Degree

Third degree in the Wild Blackthorn is achieved after a  Second degree Initiate has expressed a desire for further Initiation, has exhibited control of universal energies  and the wisdom to know when this control is to be used.  It is better to do nothing  than to act against the Goddess.  They must have completed the required studies and assignments, and can meet the requirements concerning Third Degree. Again, Understand that the Lady calls who She will and that the High Priestess serves the Lady so the time of initiation for all levels  will vary from student to student.

Third degree is a recognition of achievement, and they are encouraged to leave the parent Coven and form a Grove and coven of their own, preferably with a working partner.  They are also encouraged to expand on the traditions and philosophy of the parent Coven.  For anything that does not grow is doomed to stagnate.

They may look to the parent Coven and Their High Priestess and her Lord for guidance but are discouraged from returning as a full time student.  The leaders of a daughter Coven may apply to a Council of Elders, should one exisit.
