The Wild Blackthorn
Our Tradition
Welcome to The Wild Blackthorn
Established in 2013, The Wild Blackthorn is a modern witchcraft tradition with Groves and Covens in Danbury, Connecticut, and Tampa, Florida, as well as a vibrant online Academy that serves practitioners worldwide.
We are a living tradition, rooted in mystery, shaped by lineage, and alive in community.
Origins of the Wild Blackthorn Tradition
The Wild Blackthorn grew from the weaving of two rich magickal lineages, the Jolean Tradition and the Draconian Tradition, along with the continued work of High Priestess Nyt and High Priest Lord Onyx.
The Jolean Tradition was founded in Los Angeles in 1981 by Lady Teara Wolfrose. Blending Welsh and Irish Celtic, Gardnerian, and 1734 (Cochranian Witchcraft) influences, it expanded to Washington State and Orlando, Florida by the mid-1990s. Lady Teara created a multifaceted path of Wicca and Witchcraft drawn from her deep and diverse studies.
The Draconian Tradition was introduced in the early 1980s by Lord Ash. Rooted in Welsh Celtic, Alexandrian, and Wysardan teachings, it was later carried forward in the United States by Lord Ash and Lady Lionrhod, enriching its depth and scope.
The Blackthorn Tradition was founded through the integration of these lineages, joined with the teachings of High Priestess Nyt and Lord Onyx. From its beginning, the Blackthorn has sought to honor the Divine, foster holistic personal development, and practice both low and high magick, including ceremonial work in advanced coven training.
